Summer 2022 activities

July and August are great months to get outside and enjoy time in nature. Here are some ideas!

HUGS Summer Activities

Conservation work

Join us on Saturdays the 2nd of July and the 6th of August for local conservation work parties. We’ll also be raking up the Hagbourne Cemetery Meadow when it’s cut. Email us at hugsustainability@gmail.com for more info.

Hagbourne Fete

Come and see our stall on Saturday the 16th of July in St Andrew’s Church from 1-4 pm.

Litter Bug DetectiveTrail

In August our wild walk route will host SODC and Vale of the White Horse Litter Bug Trail for kids to get involved and solve the clues along the route to spell a secret word! FInd out more here.

Summer wildlife gardening

Make a meadow

We’ll be cutting the Hagbourne Cemetery Meadow in July and if you want to come and collect some ‘green hay’ to make your own meadow / enhance a wild corner in your garden, just drop us an email to find out more.

Join the Big Butterfly Count

From the 15th of July to the 7th of August join in the count in your garden / local area. Find out more at here. And while we’re pretty good at providing nectar for pollinators in our gardens, we could do more for moths and butterflies by providing the food their caterpillars rely on. Find out more at this website.

Activities in the area

BBOWT are running their Team Wilder campaign to showcase what we’re all doing to support nature locally. We’re very proud to be one of the Team Wilder stories. See our story here!

BBOWT also run some fantastic local events, more info on their website.

The Earth Trust at Wittenham Clumps also has some great events including guided walks and tours to join.

And slightly further afield, we also love FarmEd up near Chipping Norton, they have lots on this summer.
